Ao Haru Ride Live Action Trailer Released!

Heyo! So this news is a couple days late but the live action movie of Ao Haru Ride has just released its first ever preview and I am super excited. Being a big fan of the manga, I wasn't really fully satisfied with the casting but after seeing this teaser, I'm thinking that the movie might turn out really well.

First off, the feeling this teaser gives off has a nostalgic feeling to it and really reflects on the manga's name itself. Ao Haru Ride basically means Sprint Youth Ride. Its not a literal translation but its the basic idea that the artist, Sakisaka Io, wants to present. The soft background music and the glowy cinematography will seriously make your heart pound and think back to your youth. Even if your currently in your youth like me, it will still give off butterflies.
Live action adaptions of anything be it mangas, animes, or novels are always immediately rejected by loyal fans before they even come out. Its mostly because everyone has their own opinions on what the characters would look and act and sound like in real life. When I first heard the news of the live action, I was pretty pumped. As long as the live action is entertaining and the cast is good, I'll probably like it even if it has some differences between the original work. And some of them even turn out better than people expect like Rurouni Kenshin (in theatres August 1st!! SO EXCITED) and Kimi Ni Todoke.

I think the casting and writing of a film are equally important and could fail a movie if not done right. When the cast for Ao Haru Ride came out, I was honestly pretty sad. The side characters were all cast perfectly but the mains just didn't feel in place. I love Tsubasa Honda but I just couldn't imagine her as Yoshioka. And Higashide Masahiro felt a little too old to play Kou despite his dashing looks.

After seeing this teaser however, I feel like it might just work out. It's always a no no to assume things before hand because once the real thing is released, there will always be big differences. I have to say that the cast has great chemistry together and I'm just pleased that they all look genuinely happy when they smile.

I'm not sure how closely the live action will follow the original but here is the synopsis for the manga:
Yoshioka Futaba (Tsubasa Honda) has a few reasons why she wants to "reset" her image and life as a new high-school student. Because she's cute and had a demure personality she was ostracized by her female friends in junior high, and because of a series of misunderstandings and mishaps, she couldn't get her feeling across to the one boy she has always liked, Tanaka Kou.
Now in high school, she is determined to be as unladylike as possible so that her friends won't be jealous of her. While living her life this way contentedly, she meets Tanaka-kun again, but he now goes under the name of Mabuchi Kou (Higashide Masahiro). He tells her that he felt the same way as she did when they were younger, but that they cannot go back. Will Futaba be able to continue her love that never even started from three years ago?
I suggest you guys to read the manga if you haven't yet. The latest chapter was a bit frustrating and I literally raged after reading it but its what manages to keep me reading.

There is a tumblr that posts news and beautiful edits on the manga so be sure to check that out here!

Here is the trailer and translation from Beauxmont on tumblr:

Spring Youth is a flicker of brightness…
Spring Youth is sweet and bright…
Spring Youth is fragile, painful and fleeting…
Spring Youth is always mistaken.
Aoharaido.
